About Us
522 Systems, founded in 2018, builds on the successful tensile tester design of Ernest Fullam. Mr. Fullam, an early pioneer of creating accessories for scanning electron microscopes, brought his first tensile stage to market in 1953, eventually selling the tensile stage product line to MTI Instruments in 2010.
Based in the New York State capital region, 522 Systems serves a world-wide customer base and works hard to provide innovation to the material science industry.
Andrew Dorman
Andrew Dorman has been a life-long resident of the capital region of New York State, and after earning a degree in mechanical engineering from Clarkson University, became the second generation in his family to become an engineer. He spent 22 years as the chief design engineer with Dynamic Systems in Poestenkill, NY. Under the tutelage of Dr. Hugo Ferguson he learned the design and manufacture of some of the most advanced materials testing and simulation systems in the world. This included custom systems for torsional, fatigue, and high temperature testing for some of the world’s leading manufacturers, research institutions, and national laboratories. During this time he also earned a manufacturing degree from Hudson Valley Community College. When Andrew began his tenure at MTI Instruments, he strove to improve and expand the MTI/Fullam Tensile Tester Line as their senior mechanical engineer designing for tabletop, SEM, and AFM environments. With the formation of 522 Systems, Andrew brings over 25 years of experience to engineering innovative solutions for material testing and property analysis.
Van Svenson
Van Svenson grew up in the farm country of central Virginia before going to college at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in Troy, NY. After graduating, Van started working in the robotics and manufacturing industries as a mechanical engineer and CNC machine programmer. Eventually his career brought him to IBM where he was a quality process engineer for sheet metal and plastic injection molding contract manufacturers. After traveling extensively for five years, Van left manufacturing to work in the business world, first with proxy solicitor D.F. King, and then, through acquisition, AST Financial. With the founding of 522 Systems, Van returns to his engineering roots as the procurement manager, ensuring the highest levels of quality are met for all the components and systems we sell.
Amanda Brinke
Amanda Brinke has an eclectic background. She graduated from the University of Louisville, cum laude with two bachelor’s degrees, then moved to New York’s capital region in 2000. Having lived in many areas, regions, and two countries, she has an appreciation for many different people and cultures. This has aided her in her over 25 years of customer service, sales, and general management – all experience which she brings to the 522 Systems team.
